Hey, hello there, friend!
Every week, for several years now, I’ve sat down to write these weekly blog posts. I’ve shared my art, my thoughts, and glimpses of my life with you. Over time, some of you have even shared your own stories with me. It’s become one of my favorite rituals, a moment where I pause and feel grateful for the life I’ve created—a life I couldn’t have dreamed possible back when I was a 10-year-old art student in my hometown of São Paulo, Brazil.
Back then, I was the only child in my class, learning how to mix colors and paint with dreams far bigger than my little hands could hold. I had no idea that one day I’d grow up to call myself a professional artist, living in California, connecting with incredible people like you through my work. And yet, here we are.
Gratitude, for me, is everything. It’s not just a feeling—it’s the heartbeat of my art, my process, and the way I run my business.
How Gratitude Shapes My Art
They say good art must be created for the artist—for what comes from the heart. And I agree. But I’ve also learned something over the years: art is never truly complete without contemplation. When you purchase my artwork, you’re not just buying a piece of me—you’re completing the story.
Take my latest collection, Parallel Realities, for example. Those pieces carry my entire history— my childhood dreams, my journey as an artist, and one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. They were created during a dream residency in France while my dad was passing away in Brazil. It was a time of grief, growth, and transformation. Through that pain, I found new techniques, new discoveries, and a whole new way of expressing myself.
But what would all of that mean if I couldn’t share it with you? If you hadn’t stood before those pieces, letting them resonate, or taken them home to become part of your story too?
Every time you collect my work, it feels like a divine connection—a meeting of wavelengths, ideas, and emotions. And that’s what completes the journey for me.
Today, I want to shine a light on you. Whether you’ve collected a piece, shared a kind word, or followed my journey, you’ve made my life as an artist possible. My art would be incomplete without your presence. Thank you for making it all so meaningful.
The Role of the Collector
For me, the role of a collector goes far beyond financial support. It’s about sharing ideas, matching space and time, and creating meaning. Art is more than what the eyes can see; it’s a translation of emotion and energy, and I’m simply the conduit.
When my work resonates with you, it means so much more than we can put into words. It’s the purest exchange of value I can imagine—my gift as an artist meeting your desire to connect with something greater. Your belief in my work keeps me grounded and stronger, especially during moments of doubt. You remind me why I do what I do.
Gratitude as My Greatest Business Tool
You may have heard stories about artists with strong egos or difficult attitudes. But for me, art is not about ego. It’s not a vague creation meant to exist in isolation. It’s an absolute exchange of energy and meaning. Every piece I create is infused with my vision of what I want to see more of in this world.
You being here, supporting my art, keeps me inspired. It reminds me that my role as an artist goes far beyond making beautiful things. It’s about leaving a legacy, sharing a voice, and matching desires to create something meaningful together.
I believe this is the most beautiful exchange—the way art can inspire us to do good in the world, to connect, and to show each other that we’re not alone.
As I reflect this Thanksgiving, I want you to know how much I appreciate you. Your support, whether through collecting my work, sharing a kind word, or simply being here, means everything to me. It makes me proud to call myself an artist, to call this my life, and to call you part of my journey.
Thank you for completing my art, for seeing its soul, and for letting me be a part of yours.
Color Your Life!
With gratitude, Drica
