September, I Have No Idea What You’re Going to Be

Hey, hello there, friend!

August was full, and fun!

My birthday. A lot of reflection. My Birthday Retrospective sale, which sent several paintings off to new homes. Three new commissions that came in almost at the same time. Conversations with collectors. New ideas. Podcast episodes that somehow ended up saying out loud some of the things I’ve been thinking about.

It was one of those months where I could feel so much moving at once, creatively, professionally, personally. And underneath all of it, this feeling that something else is changing.

I talked about it on this week’s episode of Decoding the Flow: that strange moment when nothing is necessarily wrong with your life, but you can feel that you’ve outgrown parts of it.

Well, I’m there.

And the funny thing is, after such a full August, I’m entering September without a big declaration about what comes next. And instead of filling that space immediately, I'm trying something very unfamiliar to me: I'm letting it be space.

So rather than telling you where September is going, I thought I'd tell you where I am right now.

My latest photoshoot with my talent friend Ute Reckhorn

Currently...

Making: Making berry jams, I love making them ;)

Reading: I like to read a few books at a time, now I'm excited to start Walden, by Henry David Thoreau, and Profit First by Mike Michalowicz.

Thinking about: Start my Snail Mail and pumpkin lattes

Listening to: Djavan

Learning: Podcasting

Loving: Arugula salad, with dry cranberries, and strawberries

Letting go of: the need to make myself busy

Looking forward to: fall season

Curious about: Psychology

And maybe that's September. Not a month I need to define before I live it.

Just a new page, a few things I'm loving, a few things I'm questioning, some paint on my hands, and enough curiosity to see where it goes.

September, I have no idea what you're going to be.

I'm looking forward to finding out.
