A Lifetime of Art, One Exhibition
Hey, hello there, friend!
It took me three days to organize my painting inventory, and when I finally counted everything, there were nearly 170 paintings. Seventy of them are minis, but still… imagine trying to find a place for almost 170 pieces of your life. Today, over coffee at Hermosa Beach Pier with my good friend Sommer, we started doing exactly that.
Sommer is an amazing interior designer who has helped me decide where paintings belong in some of my biggest solo shows. There’s something so natural about our collaborations. I bring my ideas, my paintings, and a Pinterest board full of possibilities, and together we start seeing how everything can come to life in a space. Today was no different.
We spent three hours between the café and the gallery, walking through the rooms, measuring walls, looking through my ideas, and planning the exhibition section by section. By the end, nearly every painting had found its place in our plan. After spending days counting, documenting, and organizing everything, I could finally picture what it would feel like to walk into this show. And, of course, to have you walking through it with me.

For the first time, I’ll have the entire space at Resin Gallery, making this my biggest solo show ever. Apparently, leaving after almost 20 years requires a little room.
If you followed my Birthday Retrospective, you already know how much I love revisiting earlier work. This exhibition will take that journey even further, with some of my earliest paintings, including watercolors I made when I was just 10 years old. Many of those early pieces are still in Brazil with my family, so I can only share a small part of that beginning. But that little girl’s work will be in the same space as the paintings I’m creating today, and I’m still taking in how much that means to me.
You’ll be able to witness the evolution of an artist who never stopped painting, and how much a place can become part of that evolution. Looking through this work, I can see what Hermosa Beach gave me: the ocean, the light, the colors, and the community that made me feel I belonged. Being here was exactly what my art was asking for, even before I knew how to explain it.
We’re planning multiple art installations, a short film, and love letters to Hermosa Beach. I’ll share more as everything comes together, because creating the experience is one of my favorite parts of a solo show, and I want to bring you into that process. Today, that meant a table with a friend, a few wall measurements, and the beautiful feeling of watching an idea become real.
So many of these paintings will also be looking for their next home as I prepare to leave mine. My hope is that the work I’ve created here will continue living with people who feel connected to it, while helping me begin whatever comes next.
