Selenophile explores the quiet relationship between the moon and the ocean — a moment of stillness where reflection meets movement. The luminous moon rests above flowing waves, illuminating the horizon in soft color and rhythm.
This painting invites the viewer into a calm, contemplative space where cycles of nature echo our own inner tides.
Part of Second Light — March 2026 Edition, a series of paintings revisited and completed during Drica Lobo’s studio practice.
STUDIO NOTES
I’ve always felt drawn to the moon and its quiet influence on the ocean. The word selenophile describes someone who feels deeply connected to moonlight, and that idea guided the energy of this piece.
While working on this painting, I imagined the peaceful feeling of standing by the ocean at night, one of my favorite childhood memories, when everything slows down and the waves move in their own gentle rhythm. The flowing lines in the water mirror that sense of motion and calm.
