Studio Notes
 
I originally painted this piece in 2016, during one of Southern California's unforgettable El Niño seasons, when the waves seemed endless and the ocean was full of energy.
 
For this reimagined version, I kept the original composition while bringing it into my current artistic language. The brushstrokes are looser and more expressive, the mountains are painted with a newfound sense of movement, and layers of rich texture add depth and dimension throughout the piece.
 
Looking back at a painting after nearly a decade is a reminder that while some ideas stay with us, the way we express them continues to evolve.
