Between Rocks captures a quiet moment along the coastline where the ocean moves gently between ancient formations beneath the glow of the moon.
The contrast between the fluid motion of the waves and the stillness of the rocks creates a sense of balance — movement held by strength.
Part of Second Light — March 2026 Edition, a series of paintings revisited and completed during Drica Lobo’s studio practice. Original painting on gallery-wrapped canvas.
STUDIO NOTES
There’s something incredibly grounding about rock formations along the coast. They feel ancient, steady, and timeless, like quiet witnesses to the movement of the ocean.
While painting this piece, I kept thinking about the contrast between permanence and change. The rocks remain while the waves endlessly flow around them. In many ways, this painting became a reflection on finding calm in the middle of movement.
