As Above draws inspiration from the powerful visual phenomenon of a solar eclipse — a moment when light radiates across the sky in dramatic rays, revealing both shadow and brilliance at once.
The glowing celestial body at the center sends waves of light outward, stretching across the sky and reflecting in the ocean below. The composition evokes the timeless idea that the movements of the heavens mirror the rhythms of life on earth.

STUDIO NOTES
This painting was inspired by the energy and symbolism of a solar eclipse.
During an eclipse, the sky becomes charged with light and shadow at the same time, creating a powerful visual experience where rays of illumination radiate across the atmosphere. I wanted to capture that moment of expansion — when light transcends across the sky and reflects onto the surface of the ocean.
The title As Above references the ancient idea that what happens in the cosmos echoes through the natural world below. In this piece, the sky and the ocean become mirrors of one another, connected through light.
